Your Browser Is the Best Digital Sign You Already Own

I have an old iPad that sits on my desk doing nothing. Last week I opened a browser tab on it and turned it into a clock. This week it became a message board for my family. Next week it might be a scoreboard for game night.

The thing is: you do not need a smart display, a digital sign subscription, or a dedicated app. Your browser is already a full-screen rendering engine. Open a tab, go full screen, and any screen becomes whatever you want it to be.

The Clock: Time Screen

A fullscreen clock on a spare monitor or tablet is the simplest upgrade you can make to your desk. Large monospace digits, dark or light background, and a full-screen mode that hides everything except the time. No notifications. No app to open. Just a URL that stays open.

I use it on a second monitor during focus sessions. Instead of checking my phone (which leads to notifications, which leads to distraction), I glance left and see the time. That is the entire interaction. It has saved me from countless phone-check rabbit holes. The clock display updates every second and uses almost no CPU. The Message Board: Fullscreen Text

The fullscreen text tool turns any screen into a digital sign. Type a message, pick a background and text color, and go full screen.
