Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Discounted price = Original price × (1 - Discount percentage ÷ 100). For example, a $100 item with 25% off costs $100 × (1 - 0.25) = $75.
How do I find the discount percentage?
Discount percentage = ((Original price - Sale price) Original price) × 100. For example, if an item goes from $80 to $60, the discount is ((80-60)/80) × 100 = 25%.
Can I stack multiple discounts?
Multiple percentage discounts are applied sequentially, not added together. For example, 20% off followed by 10% off means: first reduce by 20%, then reduce the new price by 10%. The total discount is 28%, not 30%.
Does this calculator work with tax?
This calculator focuses on the discount amount. To get the final price with tax, multiply the discounted price by (1 + tax rate ÷ 100).
